PREPARATION OF TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION FOR THE INVESTIGATIVE AREA “LIPIK”
Lipik, as is known, already uses its geothermal sources for balneological purposes and in the production of bottled water. In the context of significant changes in the energy market utilizing natural and renewable resources, Lipik will take a step forward that could economically and socially advance the city. The ultimate goal and long-term strategic plan for the use of geothermal potential in the area of the City of Lipik is ultimately to use it for energy purposes; heating of existing and new buildings and its use in greenhouses or greenhouses. For this purpose, the company Izvori Lipika d.o.o. obtained a permit for the exploration of geothermal waters in order to issue a permit for the extraction of geothermal waters in the proposed exploration area “LIPIK”.
In the area of the City of Lipik, the existence of a geothermal reservoir has been determined by previous works, whose size, reservoir characteristics, and energy power should be determined by examining the existing well and defining the parameters for the preparation of the Elaboration on Reserves. The results of the borehole tests carried out so far, which date from 1990, 1999, and 2018, did not provide relevant indicators due to the beginning of war events and inadequate equipment, but it was possible to conclude that the potential for using geothermal water for energy purposes does exist.
In February, the hydrodynamic measurement of the Lipik GT-9 well began as part of the project: “Development of technical documentation for the exploration area “Lipik”. The project is co-financed from the EEA financial mechanism for the period from 2014 to 2021 as part of the implementation of the “Energy and Climate Change” Program. The project holder is the City of Lipik with project partners: GeoCamp Iceland ehf and Izvori Lipika d.o.o. and the total value of the project is 243,538.45 euros. The projected duration of the project is until April 30, 2024, with the goal of Technical documentation prepared in accordance with legal regulations and the acquired conditions for further extraction of geothermal energy for combined use, and new knowledge and experience in the use of geothermal energy will be gained in cooperation with Icelandic partnerships.
The hydrodynamic test was carried out in order to determine the potential for the use of geothermal energy. Thus, the company Vis Viva GSM d.o.o. tested the water flow and temperature with appropriate equipment. The results are more than satisfactory. They show a constant flow of water ranging from 20.5 to 21 l/s, water temperature from 68.5 to 69.5°C with a stable water level at a depth of 110 to 112 m. These results will serve as the basis for preparing a Reserves Report, followed by the development and exploitation of geothermal water, and the creation of an Environmental Protection Report. These projects will provide a clearer picture of the specific possibilities for utilizing geothermal water from the existing Lip-9/H borehole. Based on current findings, it can be stated that the capacities are certainly sufficient for heating public institutions.
