VISIT OF THE NORWEGIAN DELEGATION
The town of Lipik has been preparing for a longer time for a greater utilization of the geothermal sources it sits on. On this occasion, on Monday, February 5th, the City Administration of Lipik welcomed representatives from the Norwegian Directorate for Water Resources and Energy, headed by director Gunn Oland and Camilla Langsholt. Representatives from the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, led by Stella Arneri, the Chief Director of the Directorate for European Territorial Cooperation and Operational Program Manager, were also present. Accompanied by members of the Hrvoje Požar Energy Institute, a program partner, they visited the crucial LIP-9/H drilling site central to exploring geothermal potentials in the city.
During their stay, the mayor of Lipika Vinko Kasana and his team informed the delegation about the progress of the project and together they visited the well LIP-9/H, which is key in the exploration of geothermal potential in the area of the city.

As part of the event, Veronika Prhal, head of the Unified Administrative Department of the City of Lipik, delivered an informative presentation on “Developing Technical Documentation for the Lipik Exploration Area,” offering a detailed insight into the project’s progress and planned steps. The project, led by the City of Lipik, aims to determine geothermal potentials in the area and utilize geothermal energy from the LIP-9/H well.
The duration of the project extends from May 1, 2022, to April 30, 2024, and in addition to the City of Lipik, GeoCamp Iceland ehf and Izvori Lipika d.o.o. are participating in the project. The main activities include preparation of technical documentation for geothermal energy and project information and promotion.
So far, significant activities have been carried out, such as obtaining a permit from the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development for the exploration of geothermal waters and the development of the Lipik GT-9 geothermal well project.
The project highlights the importance of geothermal potential research for the sustainable development of the City of Lipik and the wider area and provides an important insight into the progress of research in that area.
