It is known that geothermal water has been used in Lipik for a long time, but with this project, a new step is being taken in the utilization of geothermal energy. Namely, the city company Izvori Lipika d.o.o. received permission from the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development to explore geothermal waters in the exploration area of “Lipik”. As emphasized by the director Zvonko Novokmet, within the mentioned exploration area, there is an existing well marked LIP-9H.

“Over the four-year period for which the exploration permit was granted, we plan to prepare technical documentation, conduct production testing, and hydrodynamic measurements to obtain geothermal waters for energy purposes from the aforementioned well. The plan is to use the energy of geothermal water for heating public buildings, and if capacities permit, for commercial properties in private ownership and residential buildings owned by citizens”, stated the director.

Funds for the preparation of technical documentation have been secured in the Budget of the City of Lipik, the State Budget of the Republic of Croatia, and in the EEA financial mechanism within the “Energy and Climate Change” Program.

The estimated value of the exploration works and technical documentation is around 300,000 euros, and the documentation for the public procurement of technical documentation services is currently being prepared.
